This lunch box has its own ice system built in. The ice layer is removed and placed in the freezer until ready to use. Easily freezes overnight to be used several days in a row. The section the food sits in is also a removeable layer for greater ease of washing. Fits a nice amount of food for an elementary school child for lunch. Easy to open and close and has a nonslip sort of texture that makes it less likely a child will drop it.

I love these lunchboxes for my children for so many reasons but the biggest being that it comes with an ice pack that lays under the top container. I find that putting a loose ice pack into a large lunchbox doesn’t keep all the food evenly cool by lunch but the bentgo covers the whole container.
I have 2 children (8 and 13) and it’s so helpful to have these size containers for different foods. The smaller sizes are perfect for chips and crackers (typically can hold about 6-7 crackers) and the medium size is great for fruit. If you’re a sandwich person, note it only fits a half sandwich but it’s the perfect serving size for elementary age children.
The fit of this lunchbox is snug so don’t overfill or you will find its difficult to close. However, once snapped close, it keeps everything in place so you don’t end up with leaks (inside or out).
One of the best features is the hard container. Kids who are rough on their backpack or carry a lot inside of it with the lunch don’t have to worry about their lunch getting squished. Overall, highly recommend for busy moms looking for an easy morning lunchbox routine.

Comes with a built in freezer pack! I like these better than the older version bentgo boxes. These are insulated better and easy to clean as they are dishwasher safe. Perfect for kids in daycare or even elementary school aged kids. Quality is great and colors are so cute!

Debated buying for a few weeks because the price seemed pretty steep, but after less than a week of using this, I’m so glad I purchased! Excellent size and variety of portioned sections, and I can see this being great for picky eaters so nothing has to “touch.”
It feels really durable, has been easy to clean, and I’ve been happy with the seal! No spilling yogurt or ranch inside of our diaper bag when it was thrown in upside down. Plus the green color is really neutral and not an eyesore.
I do wish that the insulation and ice pack were a little longer-lasting. On average, we’ve made it from breakfast until lunchtime, but it hasn’t really been in the heat much. Hoping it will hold up for our upcoming beach trip and keep my toddler’s lunch cool & fresh.
It can also take a little extra effort to get everything (lid, tray, and ice pack) perfectly lined up.

I am thoroughly enjoying the benefits of the new bentgo Lunch Box, and I’m excited to share my experience and insights regarding this upgraded version. Below is a breakdown of the notable improvements that set it apart from the previous model.
Having previously owned three of the previous version of the bentgo Lunch Box, I was already a satisfied user. However, the new version brings forth a range of features that enhance its functionality even further.
One of the standout additions to this version is the inclusion of an ice pack. This is a particularly welcome feature for school lunches, where refrigeration options are often limited. The ability to keep contents cool and fresh is a definite advantage.
The redesigned flap mechanism is another improvement that caught my attention. Unlike the previous model’s 180-degree opening, the flap now opens only to 90 degrees. This seemingly small adjustment has a significant impact, as it reduces the space the lunch box occupies on the table. This thoughtful design enhances convenience during lunchtime.
Furthermore, the reduction in the number of compartments from five to four is a notable enhancement. This streamlined setup optimizes space usage and eliminates the need for a small round dip container, which though I previously used with the original bentgo box, I prefer the space advantage without it.
Lastly, the improved design becomes evident during the washing process. When cleaning the new lunch box in the dishwasher, I observed that significantly less water accumulates in the crevices compared to the prior version. This is a subtle yet valuable improvement.
In conclusion, my experience with the new bentgo Lunch Box has been overwhelmingly positive. The addition of an ice pack, the more compact flap opening, the streamlined four-compartment layout, and the improved drainage during washing collectively contribute to a highly functional and user-friendly lunch box. I am exceptionally pleased with these enhancements and would wholeheartedly recommend this lunch box to others seeking a versatile and efficient solution for meal storage.

Update: Customer service very quickly resolved my issue with the product in a more than satisfactory way. Will purchase Bentgo again.
The hinge between the lid and base started to crack about 3/4 into the school year making the box not water tight. Juice from fruit like watermelon would leak into my son’s bag.
It did a great job for awhile and is still a good product. Can’t seem to ask for more from something a 5yo uses daily, so buying a new one every year is what it is.
