Unlike commercial and office locations, wall clocks are less commonly used in homes these days given omnipresent smart phones and myriad appliances such as stoves and microwaves that have digital clocks. However, the home gym is one place where the simple analog wall clock really shines, especially when lifting weights.

In order to optimize body-building workouts an extremely important consideration is to accurately track time under tension for each set of reps for a given exercise. It is generally well accepted that your best gains stem from a total of 45-60 seconds under tension per set comprised of a roughly 1 second muscle contraction and 3 second release per rep.

Although you can try silently counting the seconds for every rep this is not always consistent and it’s easy to lose track, and looking at your watch or smartphone timer while performing most exercises isn’t feasible. I’ve tried using a number of different “high tech” device aids such as using metronome apps on my phone and Echo devices alone or combined with my phone’s timer, but the metronome sound gets old fast and doesn’t track the duration of your set, and starting and stopping the timer hands-free hasn’t worked well.

The best solution I’ve discovered is the simple analog wall clock with sweep second hand, and this clock is perfect for that use. Placing one or more in a good wall position enables you to watch it during most exercises and accurately track each rep, and even if you cannot watch it during certain exercises (such as flat bench presses), you can easily track the total duration of the set to help you stay in the 45-60 second zone. I really have nothing negative to say about this clock. Naturally I will update this review if anything negative crops up. But for now I can attest to the fact that mounting it in my home gym has eased the mental concentration burden of my weight lifting workouts and made for an overall better and more productive experience.

Low cost, looks very good, smaller than usual but nice size, quiet, insert battery and runs. Only time will tell about long term quality.

This is an easy to read clock. It hangs easily on the wall. No problems setting it and getting it started. I like how it looks in my house because it’s a clean sleek presentation. I can read it at some distance away, which I like. The clock seems to be quite accurate. No noise from it at all.

This clock fit perectly nd was just the right size and appearance for placement above bifold doors in our second bathroom. It is accurate time-wise and is also totally silent! It accepts one AA battery, and performed flawlessly since install! I would definitely purchase again!
