My photo looks great in it. Easy to mount

It’s a nice frame. A little overpriced. Michael’s carried it for less. The convenience of not having to go out of the house was worth it. No seams showing and the back of frame was sturdy.

I needed nice frames to keep my concert posters good and to also display them in style… so I picked these ones up.

They come with a plastic sheet stuck to the front of them to save them from damage and scraping during transit and it worked. They were the perfect size for my 18″x24″ concert posters.

Excellent quality. I will definitely get more of these if I get any more posters that I need framed.

Background: I’m a semi-pro photographer with more than 15 years of experience, and I have previously worked in a pro frame shop for a short period of time framing flat art of all sizes. I was looking for an inexpensive frame to replace damaged art in a high traffic area of our home.

I purchased a 16×16 inch black frame with plexiglass glazing, and I’m overall happy with this purchase. The frame was well packaged and arrived safely two days after I ordered (with Amazon Prime). The plexiglass had a layer of film on either side to keep it protected and then the frame had styrofoam and cardboard protectors on the corners, was wrapped in plastic, and packaged inside a thin layer of styrofoam in a fitted box. IMO just enough packaging to protect the frame without being excessive. The frame is pre-strung with hangers to orient it vertically or horizontally (kind of unnecessary in this case since the frame is square) and comes with a wire hanger and instructions to attach it. The hanging wire provided is a thicker/stiffer than needed for this application and longer than needed so you do need wire cutters to trim it to size, but it works.

Assembling the frame and installing my art was easy. The plexiglass is thin and flexes easily so it needs a little guidance to get it to sit square in the frame rabbet. My plexiglass had a couple small (about 1/4 inch) scratches about 2 inches from the edge (visible before I removed the protective backing), so not perfect but not too large or in a place where it would be conspicuous. The frame itself is nicely assembled, with two “staples” joining each corner and the corners well aligned and flush. You can see a slight seam at two of the corners since the material itself is not black all the way through, but this is only upon examining closely and not noticeable from viewing distance (I didn’t feel it required any touch up). I found the surface material of the frame to be nicely manufactured – no scratches, dings, bubbling, chips, or other imperfections. I believe the frame is sturdy enough to not warp over time, especially considering the overall light weight of the piece thanks to the plexi glazing.

This is a cheap frame with thin plastic glazing. The materials are not archival, the glazing is not optical grade, and its less than $30 for the 16×16 size. For the price, I think it is a great option for inexpensively framing midsize art. If anything, I’d like to see felt or rubberized bumpers added to the package so that the corners of the frame don’t rest directly on the wall.

The piece we wanted to frame was art that I had commissioned of our pup, and unfortunately the hanger supplied with the original frame failed and resulted in the piece falling to the ground, shattering the glass, breaking the frame, and scratching the original print. Because the art itself was damaged and I have the digital file to reprint it in the future if necessary, I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on a replacement frame and wasn’t very concerned about having a perfect optical surface, and this was perfect for safely getting our picture back on our walls. Since the art hangs near our front door and we have a dog and a baby on the way, I actually liked the idea of using plexi and not having to worry about a repeat crash and shatter incident.

I think this is a great buy for the money for inexpensive art, and the five star rating I have provided is reflective of the price point and expectations I had for this item. If you have a high value or one of a kind piece you want to last a long time, invest in professional framing and use archival materials and quality UV protective optical glass or acrylic to protect your artwork. If you just want to hang some cheap prints on your walls without spending a ton of money, this is a great option.

In the past, I’ve ordered cheap MCS frames from Amazon when I’ve wanted to frame posters. The cardboard backing makes the frame pretty fragile and the corners tend to arrive a little damaged (though not bad enough to merit a return). For my newest posters, I decided to spend a bit extra and try Americanflat frames since reviews were very positive, and they’ve definitely become my go-to brand.

I was immediately impressed with how the frames were packaged. The corners were well-protected and both sides of the plexiglass were covered in plastic. I think the odds of an Americanflat frame arriving damaged are very slim. In my opinion, that alone makes them worth buying compared to other frames.

The frames came with hanging wire and there’s hardware installed on the back, but I struggled to get the frames to hang flush against the wall. I wound up removing all of the hardware (it screws off) and using 3M Command Strips for hanging. I needed one pair of strips per side to hang a frame vertically, but for horizontal hanging, I needed two per side. I learned this when a frame fell four feet and slammed onto the floor, but the frame wasn’t damaged!

As far as aesthetics go, they look very nice from a distance, but less so up close. On one frame, there’s an unfinished “seam” on a corner where the edge pieces fit together. I was able to sort of mask it with a Sharpie, but it looks a little cheap from a couple of feet away. The wood is still much nicer than a plastic MCS frame, but I’m a little disappointed with the seam given how much more expensive these were.

At the time of review, this frame costs $35, while a two-pack of MCS frames in the same size costs only $28. Americanflat frames are higher-quality and look nicer on my walls, but I really think that the stellar packaging justifies the higher cost. Returning a damaged frame is a huge hassle, often causing you to settle with having some defects.

If you don’t want to splurge on a high-quality, custom framing job and you want something shipped to your door, I think that these are the best “budget” frames that you can get. I’m taking off one star because of the seam issue and the problems I had with the included hanging hardware.

No fuss mounting for pictures and posters. The plexiglass is not museum grade and does not block harmful ultraviolet rays, but what the heck if you just want to view something not that valuable this frame will do nicely.

I used this frame for my original 15″ x 22″ watercolour painting. The painting fits perfectly into the frame and beautifully showcases the artwork without distracting from the painting. The acrylic cover is lightweight, clear and protects the artwork without the heaviness and breakability of glass.

Very happy with this purchase and overall would definitely recommend. The frame is well made and the tabs at the back swivel which make the installation process a dream! No more flipping up tabs that eventually wear out. I only wish the plastic cover was more matte to reduce shine but it’s not a dealbreaker.

Low quality frame that looks great from afar! I had an oddly sized art piece that I wanted framed but didn’t want to put a hole in my wallet doing so. This frame was perfect and looks good enough from afar. I cleaned the plastic plexiglass with microfiber and it put very fine scratches in the plastic so just fyi when cleaning. You cannot notice the scratches when it’s hanging up though.

My son went to a comicon thing in Las Vegas a while back. He bought some cool looking posters that were rolled up when he got home. After months of him talking about getting a few frame, I finally ordered this one for him. If you can see it in the picture – this was a Star Wars poster. I like this frame because they have matching ones in other sizes. That means I can get more that match. It is easy to put a poster in and it looks great without much trouble. Very easy to set up and use. The cost on these wasn’t terrible, either. I compared frames and decided on this. The size was a little different and I was surprised this was available. I thought he might not find the right size frame. The frame is lightweight but hangs straight. I will be getting three more for the other posters – all of different sizes yet this company has them in this style!
