My grocery store sells peeled hard-boiled eggs but they cost twice as much as making them myself. I rarely make them because it’s such a production. So I decided to get an egg cooker to save some time and money. After reading a zillion reviews here I bought the Dash and am so glad I did!

Operation is dead simple and it looks cute on my counter. When the water is boiled away the cooker stops and makes a sweet chiming sound that’s loud enough to hear but not so loud as to be jarring. It continues to chime until I come over and turn it off.

It makes PERFECT hard-boiled eggs! No complaint there. I drop them in a bowl of ice water and let them cool a long time, but they never peel as easily as people say they will. My solution is to crack and peel them under running water.

The omelette is good, too, but the poached eggs always have runny whites. I tried poaching them longer but that made the yolk hard.

I use distilled water to reduce hard water mineral buildup on the metal plate. The calcium in the eggshells leave a little buildup on the plate but It’s easy to remove.

If you only care about hard-boiled eggs and omelettes then you can’t do better than this little cutie! I docked it 1 star for the poached eggs. If I ever learn how to overcome that problem I’ll come back and give it 5 stars.

Easy to use. Particularly love the poached eggs. Sized perfectly. Very efficient and seems durable. Super easy to clean.

This is great. It’s super easy to use, works well, is accurate. The lid has a little steamer hole and locks in place when not using it. It seems fairly durable, yet lightweight.

None of my eggs have stuck to the trays, I sometimes use non stick spray and sometimes not, poaching tray should be sprayed so they slide out easier and you don’t break the yolks.

It’s been great for mornings that I am running behind but still need to eat something. I can set it up, plug it in, go about whatever I need to do and the chime lets me know when the eggs are done. I will say, if you like runny yolks, do not let them sit after the chime goes off. If you let them sit too long, they turn more to medium texture, even when poached. But they are the perfect texture every time, if I remove the lid. I have time to be in another room, hear the chime, and remove the lid and it’s usually okay.

I haven’t experimented with other food yet, though in theory, it can be done.

This product is a game changer for medium & soft boiled eggs. It cooks them perfectly and makes them super easy to peel. The little water cup has directions on either side depending on the number of eggs you’re cooking. The only downside is the alarm is very loud and a little alarming. Otherwise I love this tool. It also has an omelette option but I have yet to try that.

I thought for about $20, how good could this be? My Breville unit I have used for several years and is now discontinued finally shot craps. So I went looking around Amazon for a replacement. This thing seems to do almost everything I used the other unit for, mainly hard boiled eggs and poached eggs. I will probably never use the omelet feature as I prefer a pan cooked omelet. As for poaching it does a great job of cooking the eggs just done, but still with a nice runny yolk. I imagine if you want it a bit firmer just add a tad bit more water, but I found the basic instructions just right. Granted the eggs are not really poached but rather coddled in steam, but that’s splitting hairs. Poached, smoached, whatever, it works. The little tray that holds the poached eggs is quite hot when you take it out to serve the eggs, so be sure and have a small towel or napkin to hold it with. No big deal. As for hardboiled eggs, I haven’t tried it yet but if the poaching feature is any indication, I’m sure it will work just fine. If not, I will update my review. Just remember to plunge your hard boiled eggs into ice cod water before you peel them to avoid the green sulphur ring around the yolks. The unit takes up very little counter space and is easy to clean. Simple controls, on/off. Time is measured by the amount of water you put in. Simple. Hard boils perfectly. Highly recommended.
