The price was right. And although there are a few bad reviews, there are a lot of good ones. I also saw this frame recommended on another site that was reviewing futon frames, “The Sleep Judge.” It was #5, but number 1 was too expensive, number 2 was another DHP frame that wouldn’t work for me, number 3 and number 4 were twin size chairs and expensive, and then there was this one. So when i saw it went on sale, i got it. I’m glad I did. It’s working out well.

It took a while to put together, but i would not say it was difficult. There were a lot of screws. Just stay organized about it. (I used my own hex tool which made it a bit easier) There was one part where the picture didn’t match very well to the product, and I ended up having to redo something, but it didn’t take long. Just pay really close attention to the drawings.

Because this futon frame is lightweight, I would not suggest it for anyone who might be giving it a lot of punishment. I would also suggest, contrary to what the top reviewer says, do not use a power screwdriver unless you are very careful. I had no problem using a regular screwdriver to install all the screws. They do say that when the futon is pulled out in bed mode not to sit or lie on the very edge. I would say that would be more of a problem for a heavier person, but it’s an issue of balance. Since they don’t know the weight of the person purchasing it, they make the warning. (again, this is a lightweight frame.)

If you have a thick futon mattress with coils/foam that doesn’t fold easily, then there is a learning curve to getting this to go back into the couch position. At first i thought I would never be able to do it. (I still would have been better off than the old frame I had). But after some experimenting and practice, I can get it folded every day in a matter of seconds and I’m a 5 foot 4 inch woman. You need to stand on the side of the futon where the arm rest is. Grab the top of the “backrest” part of the mattress and push it forward like your pushing the mattress into a folded position, then grab the seat part of the frame and pull up toward the “backrest” part of the mattress. If this doesn’t pop the frame into couch position, then let go of the mattress and grab the “backrest” part of the frame and pull it toward the “seat” part of the frame so the seat and backrest of the frame are forming a “V”, then rock the whole thing forward (toward the seat side) and it should fall into position. It works for me every day.

It’s a futon and there’s not a single piece of assembly instruction in sight. I had to go into the manufacturers website for instructions which led me to a YouTube video with no sound or explanation just a video. The video includes parts that did not come with the futon frame.

The #4 screws are defective.

The picture is of the “screws” is supposed to be for the legs. As you can see, they are smooth and too short. The extra is the one that actually fits but unfortunately there’s only one spare so I can’t assemble this.

The #7 screws don’t fit like they are supposed to.

I’m missing an E part which is essential to the frame.

I’m missing 2 D parts which I need to use as the legs.

How can I assemble this with only half the parts?

I would not recommend this product. The frame I received is sitting half finished in the living room at the moment and I have no idea what I am going to do with it now that it’s out of the box. The screws get caught on the holes. Some parts I received were rusted. There are a few bigger pieces that slot into each other with the intention of certain holes lining up so that a bolt/screw can fit through it but they do not line up at all. There were some scratches and scuffs here and there but those were probably due to bouncing around in the box so I will not fault the manufacturer for that. The height of one of the supporting pieces was totally wrong, that or the frame was warped in a way that made it so it wasn’t touching the floor. Out of total desperation I added a few pieces of felt pad under one of them to compensate for the height difference. Definitely not a solution to the problem and looks jank as all hell.

The only pros I could think of was the manual has easy to follow directions but some of the images do not match up with what’s happening in real life. The kit comes with everything you need to build the frame.

Pictures: The rust is self explanatory. The others show my attempt with tape to keep two pieces and a middle joining piece steady and lined up while I tried to put the screws in, but it was not possible with a regular screw driver. If you had a drill this process might be easier, but it may also bust up your drill. I don’t think you want to pay 150$ to find out. I also included pictures of the support pieces with felt pads.

I really wanted to like this, honestly. The reviews had me convinced that this would be a good find. I kept trying to build against my better judgement, hoping it would be salvageable but it’s two and a half hours later + an hour break because I wanted to think about how to be polite when writing this review. To be honest I do have some leftover frustrations as I write this so it may still sound quite biased, but this was definitely a fail product for me.

Take this anecdotal evidence and do what you will with it.

This what I needed. It wasn’t difficult to put together. I love it.

Only complicated step in assembly handled poorly , raise/lower spring mechanism , left – right marks not the same as on other parts , hard to find as painted over R & L marks easily missed . Fixturing position to side frame also vague …. two people with three digit IQs’ and a spare 1/2 hour managed to sleuth it out …. tools provided could , with hella effort , do he job but not a chance the frame will be firm and up to task .Pleased w/product ,priced right , easy to operate , solid and attractive …..

This futon bed frame is well designed and made. The instructions are fairly simple. I put this together myself. Once I got the hange of things, it went fast. Took about hour or so to put it together. Recommend it to others. One thing is that the frame sits low. I offset that with using bed risers from Amazon. Perfect now.
