10 reviews for Hatch Rest+ Baby & Kids Sound Machine | 2nd Gen | Childโ€™s Night Light, Alarm Clock, Toddler Sleep Trainer, Time-to-Rise, White Noise, Bedtime Stories, Portable, Backup Battery…

  1. EB

I have all the generations of this product and the adult one too. When they added the clock it made the product that was already great even better. We use this as a wake up and go to bed clock for my older kids and a sound machine for our youngest since he came home from the hospital.

The sound quality is great the app is easy to use and you can get a pretty realistic sound on the nature based ones and the other sounds offer a great variety. So far we have used this for birth -7years old.
It is a sleek design that blends with any room.

Only qualm I might bring up is that the device doesn’t work well if you were to have the kids spend the night at grandparents house and wanted to bring it. Get a portable one for that

    Quick version:

I was going to give this a four star review, but our power went out last night for 6.5 hours and the hatch saved us from having a cranky and unrested baby. Which is worth SO much more than any of the negatives.

    Negative
-not as loud as previous model
-reactivity to touch not as good as previous model

    Positive
    -portable
    -long life backup battery

    Long version:

We have the Hatch Rest and this version. The main reason I was knocking off a star was because this generation is not as loud as the Hatch Rest and the reactivity takes a few seconds in between switching the sound manually. That is all being compared to the previous model WITHOUT any kind of portable or backup battery option. This one can literally be picked up and moved at anytime and has a long backup battery! It doesnโ€™t skip or anything when popped off the base or disconnect from power. Great for baby wearing and long car rides. Iโ€™m not sure if there is any other app based sound machine on the market that is loud and has a long battery life. Our power was off for 6.5 hours and the hatch was on 70% volume the whole time and with no light.

We had no problem with getting it set up on the internet. We just had to get close to the router, but thatโ€™s pretty standard for any WiFi capable product. After you do it once, you donโ€™t have to do it again, unless you connect it to a different wifi.

We didnโ€™t have the Hatch with the baby monitor like a lot of the reviews have mentioned. But we use an actual baby monitor with a camera, so we didnโ€™t miss that feature.

We have version for my daughter too. I ordered two others before this one restocking. The other two did not work.

This was easy set up! Very happy! Has lights (colohr), sound, daytime/wake up settings, clock! Touch pad or can do it from your phone

  6. Liubov

The Hatch Rest+ is a user-friendly app that allows to customize sound and light settings, making it easy to create the perfect sleep environment. The variety of soothing sounds, including white noise and bedtime stories, is a standout feature.

Its night light function is adjustable, providing a comforting glow for nighttime feedings or diaper changes without being too bright. The time-to-rise feature is particularly useful for teaching my toddlers about sleep schedules, promoting independence at bedtime.
It is a well-designed, portable solution that combines essential features for sleep training and nighttime comfort.

  7. No funciona y no se como devolverlo

My first review after thousands of purchases because I’ve never been so infuriated.

Mixed reviews on this product, I went for it. Don’t bother, find something else. Cheap trash that will not connect to your WiFi even if it is right next to it.

Get something from the UK, this is just US garbage they flog at high price but spend nothing making them. Trash trash trash.

  8. Jordan

I loved the Hatch Rest + so much I bought two! I purchased my first a few months back for my older two children and ended up using it during power outages for my babyโ€™s nap time. I love the peace of mind of having back up during storms or outages. Totally worth it for that feature alone. Sound quality is beautiful. Brown noise is the best sound. I wish the extra features didnโ€™t require a subscription though. One thing I also wish it had is a projector to put stars on the ceiling. I also have the Fisher Price sound machines and love that feature. All in all Iโ€™m very happy with this product and would definitely recommend it for babies and children!

  9. John D. Allimonos

I got the original rest & then upgraded to this one because we really wanted to have the clock feature and the volume buttons on the back vs. underneath as the original rest was.

In total, we’ve had Rest for 2 years now. The Rest+ is a great improvement!

Our 3 year old has been sleep trained with this; I love how customizable it is and you can add a light +/- sound for any time of day. There’s no limitation to what it can do!

    PROS:
    – Monitor: We keep the Hatch Rest on my kiddo’s night-table & on toddler mode so he can’t change the settings. So although the monitor doesn’t filter out its own soundscape, it’s not impossible to hear what is going on in our kid’s room. We typically don’t use the “Hold to Talk” button unless absolutely necessary, but so far no issues.

    – Timer: We love having a timer feature to count down to how long until we go outside, how long until lunch/dinner time, or whatever it is we’re doing that day and we need our kiddo to be patient. It also SUPER helps with the “is it time yet?” questions.

    – Favorites: For our purposes we have 3 favorite settings. We tend to keep the same sound (wind) and have one setting to turn on (warm white light) in case we need to go into his room for any reason, but the sound remains the same to signify its still bed time which is helpful. When our kiddo was a baby we’d keep the favorite settings for nap time so we can quickly turn it on; our routine wasn’t set in stone then, so our cycling through the favorite settings were our go-to!

    – Programs: Our motto for anything is to keep it simple! We have the soundscape & no light turn on at 6:30pm to signify the start of our bedtime routine. This stays on until 5am. At 5am, the same sound & volume remain, but we added a red low light to show that its not time to wake up. At 9am, the sound turns off and the light turns a bright green. Our kiddo usually sees the red light, will go pee and go back to bed and sleep some more or stay in bed until the light turns green. (Prior to this he was waking up at 6am everyday). When the light turns green, he happily runs out of his room straight for breakfast singing that the light is green & its time to wake up. At this point we have the routine completely automated so there is not much need for me to go into the app for any reason other than set the timer.

    – Design: Love that the top ring is now the off button with a simple long-press. Love that the volume and light buttons are at the back of the device (for reference, the previous model had the off, brightness, & volume buttons underneath making it difficult to adjust if you also had the coverlets for it). Rest+ has battery! Major plus! We’ve been in situation with a power outage or our outlet giving out leaving us without our trusted Rest, so def props on this new design!
    — Digital Clock: Love this! We’d accidentally fall asleep with our kiddo and wake up not know how long we were in the room or how much time has passed; we’d also get super involved in books or songs that we’d stay in our bedtime routine for too long; so this has helped immensely in being better with our own time management. Contrary to other reviews, you are able to fully turn off the clock if needed; you can also dim the light. We have it at the lowest setting and it’s perfect! Not too bright at all; we also don’t rely on the clock throughout the day but even when we glance at it on a bright sunny day (curtains & shades wide open), we can still see those dim numbers and don’t feel the need to adjust the brightness at all. In the past for naptimes, once the shades were closed we could clearly see the time as well. ๐Ÿ˜€

    CONS:
    – App: The app can be wonky; it used to be perfect but once the Hatch Rest+ launched we did noticed a delay in connectivity with the Rest+. If you’re still on manual routine mode, my recommendation would be to connect to the app to automate routine as we have done above so there’s not much input needed on your end. Use the favorite settings & programs to your advantage; even if you down follow it to a “T.” WARNING: If you’re not a regular phone user, try to automate things as much as possible so you don’t have to go into the app often as that will cause you headaches. The Rest+ is still a step up from the original, so even if you don’t use the full features, I would still recommend this one over the original Rest.

    – Monitor: As mentioned, the device doesn’t weed out it’s own soundscape, which is part of the reason we keep this on his nigh table as a lamp so it’s close enough that we can listen to him. Not a deal breaker.

    – Timer: The app makes it difficult to use this feature, especially in the last few months as the device seems to disconnect completely from our wi-fi; luckily this does not remove nor reset any of our settings. We’ve also moved on to simply using the stove’s timer since our kiddo now spends a lot of time in the living room & we have an open concept apartment.

    – Favorites: No cons; this is awesome.

    – Programs: Motto is keep it simple; no cons here. It’s worked amazingly over the last 2 years.

    – Design: No cons.

    SUMMARY (aka TL;DR):
Overall, I have gifted this product multiple times as it’s the best soundscape I’ve found on the market + alll of these amazing bonus features; it’s definitely worth it for the price. Will recommend it over & over; hoping Hatch can fix/update the app, but it’s still not a deal breaker if you’re able to automate the “favorite” & “program” settings. BEST CHRISTMAS PRESENT FOR NEW PARENTS.

    LOVE this product! ๐Ÿ˜€

UPDATE: I reached out to hatch customer support and they making things right. They are sending us a new hatch in the mail. Ours had a malfunction and they could see it behind the scenes so they sent us a new one. This company is amazing. And I love their sound machines.

We have the older generation of this sound machine and have used it for over 3 years with our toddler and have loved it. So naturally when we had our second baby I wanted it again and when I saw that there was a newer one that could detach from its base and still work I was so excited. But weโ€™ve only been using this one for literally 2 1/2 months and all the sudden it wonโ€™t turn on anymore. Disappointing honestly. Now we have to buy a new sound machine and this one was near $100 bucks.
