10 reviews for LectroFan EVO Guaranteed Non-Looping Sleep Sound Machine with 22 Unique Fan Sounds, White Noise Variations, and Ocean Sounds, with Sleep Timer

  1. NerdShop

Overall, nice little unit. Besides the mostly-positive reviews, reason I considered this model was the price (w/ discount) given the features, but the tipping factor was the Audio Out 3.5mm jack. Wanted a better sound than would come out of a tiny speaker in a plastic box right near my bed. I have amplified stereo bookshelf speakers in the bedroom that are 8′ apart and would be more immersive, as well as better bass. While the LectroFan EVO jack supports a stereo cord properly, naturally the output is Mono (same to R&L). But it stills sounds TONs better with decent speakers! the output signal supports this setup very well, the signal is clean and robust

However I’m a little disappointed in the menu of sounds; I agree with another Reviewer, you have 20 but you only scrape up a few that you like. To me most of the 10 Fan sounds are irritating or unpleasant, and lack the “whoosh” or”woom-woom” most peeps find soothing or hypnotic. They’re not great from the EVO, and they seem even more annoying with good speakers. In either case they don’t sound like a fan in the room, except perhaps the “Oscillating” one, which I like. On the other button’s 10, my fav is the second Ocean, the milder one. So I only have 2 favs, the Oscillator and Ocean #2. However for tuning out various different specific noises, the 8 steps from Brown noise up to super-White is about right, you should be able to scramble-block any sources. So that button is not as sad as the Fans …

I’m also concerned about longevity based on Reviews here, it seems like there’s some chance this thing will die in less than 2 years … but for less than $50 I’ll take my chances …

Overall, some things could be better but in general this is a nice unit; well designed, attractive and very easy & simple to use. I just wish the Fans sounded more realistic, maybe then I would use them more, LOL. With a few reservations, RECOMMENDED.

I read a few reviews that claim that the first one was louder, but if I have this one all the way up, I have to yell to talk to someone next to me. I can’t imagine how loud the first model is, but I think it must be piercing. I also read that the different white noises don’t have as clean of a sound wave profile as the original, but as a musician and an audio engineer I would have to say the sounds in-between brown and white are great! I’m sure they are factually correct but I don’t have any drawbacks as far as sound goes since I bought this one. The fan sounds work well too, although some of them are a bit irritating to me if I have it turned up loud.

My work schedule is weekends nights 12 hours, am to PM, and I keep that same schedule during the week. So sleeping in the day is constantly disrupted by a loud conversation or dogs barking upstairs.
I wear earplugs while I sleep, and I keep this sound machine turned on as well. The combination of the ear plugs turning the volume of everything down, and the loud pink noise that leaks through desensitizing my ears to constant noise, means that even if my upstairs neighbor drops something heavy or a loud car goes past my window, my brain doesn’t register it. It has made my sleep quality so much better, and I feel more rested if I get a full 6-8 hours. I really only use the “cream” sound for sleep and then the fan to block out noises when I need to concentrate during my waking hours.

This device also has a 3.5mm output jack that allows you to take the line level signal and put it through a nice sound system or speaker for clearer frequency range, and EVEN MORE volume! If I was a therapist or had to talk to people confidentially in my office, I would pump this into the ceiling speakers outside my door to mask the sound of our conversation. Great build quality for a plastic sound maker, and the USB power cord barely needs any amps so you can power it off of anything, including laptops, battery packs, and compatible power delivery phones (USB C to USB A dongle). I HIGHLY recommend for those who need to mask some sound or treat tinnitus.

I know I’m late to the game, but this device is a game-changer. I’ve tried ear plugs, but they caused hearing issues for me when I wasn’t wearing them. A couple of my friends recommended a white noise maker, which I’d never heard of. After losing countless hours of sleep over two decades of marriage, I bought this little device. It makes lots of different sounds and the volume and pitch are adjustable. Since I’ve been using it, my sleep has improved noticeably. I’m sleeping for longer periods of time and am dreaming again. I can remember my dreams now because they are lasting longer. That can be good and bad because no one enjoys nightmares. In any event, more sleep is a good thing in my book and that is exactly what this device helps me with. Highly recommend if you have a snoring partner.

Has just the right amount of features. Works well, seems to send me off to sleep ok. Haven’t used all the sounds, some don’t seem to be as relaxing as others.

I bought 3 of these LectroFan EVO Guaranteed Non-Looping Sleep Sound Machine with 22 Unique Fan Sounds. One for the 2 bedrooms in our house and one that I travel with. We use these every night.

If you travel a lot and are in hotels, I recommend buying one of these. It drowns out the unknown noises in every hotel and makes it so much easier to get a good nights sleep. I travel a bunch for work and this has improved that so much!

I snore like a sawmill and my awesome husband (who definitely isn’t writing this for me) suffers from constant tinnitus. We bought this over 2 years ago and hooked it up to a Beats red pill+ speaker for the extra bass boost, and WOW. We haven’t looked back. We use it every night on the second-to-lowest “brown noise” setting.

We live near a hospital and the sound blocks out ambulance sirens, as well as our noisy neighbors thumping around in the next townhouse over. My husband and I have different work schedules, and he gets up before me. He sets the convenient 8 hour timer at night and wakes up naturally when the sound fades in the morning, and I get to keep sleeping until my alarm rings an hour later. On weekend, we simply don’t set the timer, and sleep in until the sunlight wakes us up. PURE BLISS.

We’ve taken this setup on trips to visit family, camping, and even on a cruise, which turned out to be the BEST idea, since the cabin walls were so thin that we could hear the neighbor’s conversations until we turned the ‘LectroFan on and let the the ocean gently rock us to sleep.

On its own, the bass is a little lacking. That’s why we recommend hooking it up to another speaker using the standard sized audio jack on the side of this unit.

It’s been two years, and it hasn’t let us down yet. We’re buying another set for the spare room.

I have several sound machines. I recently had to purchase a new one and opted for a cheaper one. What I have found is that if you have very sensitive ears, you are able to detect the subtle looping sounds that occur with these devices. They manifest as very subtle sounds that occur about every 10-12 seconds as part of the loop when the sound is repeated. Almost all devices that I tested did this.
This device was the exception. while a little more expensive than the others, it does not have any looping sounds that were noticeable and I was able to actually sleep because I wasn’t obsessing about the repeating sound. human brains identify patterns in sound and if you’re like me, it can become something that you listen for and then obsess about all night long which defeats the purpose of a sound machine to help you sleep well.
Highly recommend this device It’s absolutely worth the money.

Lots of sound options and really helped to mask out sounds of neighbours music and dogs
